JOE KNIGHT III

Coach Knight attended Pepperell High School in Lindale, where he participated in football, track, and golf. He graduated from PHS in 1998, accepting a football scholarship to Presbyterian College.

Coach Knight attended Presbyterian College, in Clinton, SC from 1998 to 2002, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He then pursued his advanced degree at Jacksonville State University, where he completed his Master’s Degree in Social Studies Education in 2004. Lastly, he obtained his Educational Specialist Degree in August of 2009 in Administration at Lincoln Memorial University.

Coach Knight was given the opportunity to come back HOME and become a Dragon again in 2009. In that time, he has served as the Head Coach of the Dragon wrestling team for 12 years and coached defensive line for the football team.

Coach Knight's father, Joe Knight Jr., was a highly decorated member of the Diamond Dragons during the early 1960s. Once hitting two homeruns, and driving in 8 RBIs in route to a victory over Cartersville in the 1964 Region Championship. Starting in the spring of 2023, a Knight will once again walk the hallowed grounds of Otis Gilbreath Field.

Coach Knight is married to Mrs. Savanna Knight, who also teaches at Pepperell High School. They have two daughters; Gradie (6) and Josie (4).
